I Can Share My Toys
Illustrated Social Story
A Social Story is a form of storytelling and a learning tool for children and adults on the Autism Spectrum. They are typically written and made by professionals, teachers and parents of children with Autism. They are told from a first person perspective to help the individual see themselves as the person in the story, so they may learn about how to process emotions, behaviors or adapt to a change.
For this project, I illustrated eight spreads and a cover for a complete Social Story that guides an individual with sharing a personal item. It’s entirely painted in watercolor, other than the outlines on the cover that are ink and digital tweaks made in post production.
